4 more coronavirus recoveries in Jamaica today

According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness Jamaica has registered 4 more Coronavirus recoveries in Jamaica today.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 62 as at May 8, 2020.

The Ministry also announced that 2 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours bring ing the total number of persons to have tested positive for the disease to 490. However as mentioned above there has been 62 recoveries so effectively there are currently 428 cases in Jamaica.

The two new cases are 2 males aged 35 and 57 years. They are both from Kingston and St. Andrew. The 35 year old male case is under investigation while the 57 year old male is a contact of a confirmed case.

Jamaica now has:

  • 35 imported cases
  • 181 that are contacts of a confirmed case, 26 of which are import-related
  • 224 are linked to the work place cluster in Portmore
  • 24 that are local transmission with no epidemiological link
  • 300 (62%) of the confirmed cases are females and 190 (39%) are males.
  • The ages of all confirmed cases range from 2 months to 87 years.

Testing

  • 6.633 samples have been collected and collected
  • 6,096 are negative and 490 positive
  • 47 are pending
  • 62 recoveries

There has been 9 deaths associated with coronavirus in Jamaica.
