5 of 10 new COVID-19 cases are from the ship in Falmouth

The Jamaican Government has announced that five of the ten new COVID-19 cases are from the Adventure of the Seas Ship in Falmouth. The ship which had over 1000 Jamaicans onboard as workers is currently being disembarked.

Of these 5 new imported cases, there are 4 males an 1 female. Two have local addresses in St. James; one in Manchester; one in St. Catherine and one in Hanover.

The remaining 5 consist of 4 females and 1 male. Three from Kingston an St. Andrew an 2 from St. Catherine. Three of these cases are contacts of confirmed cases and 2 are under investigation.

Jamaica now has 57 imported cases; 210 cases which are contacts of confirmed cases; 26 are local transmission cases not epidemiologically linked an 251 are under investigation.

Some 324 (60%) of the confirmed cases are females while 220 (40%) are males. The age range is between 2 months an 87 years. Of the now 544 cases, 9 (1.7%) have died.

Recoveries

An additional 10 patients have recovered and released from isolation, bringing the total to 191 (35.1% recovery rate).

Testing

Some 376 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. To date some 9,554 samples have been tested. The results of 76 are pending.
